Dr. Emma Katz, PhD

Dr Emma Katz, Ph.D. is the author of Coercive Control in Children’s and Mothers’ Lives (Oxford University Press, 2022, forthcoming in June). Her publications collectively have over 75,000 reads worldwide, and are internationally acclaimed,
winning awards including the Wiley Prize for best paper published in Child Abuse Review 2015–18, and the Corinna Seith Prize judged by Women Against Violence Europe (WAVE).
She was most recently a member of the Expert Advisory Panel for the HARM Network/Research England’s Domestic Abuse Policy Guidance for UK Universities (2021), and with Dr Roxanne Khan is co-editing a forthcoming special issue of the Journal of Aggression, Conflict and Peace Research on ‘Domestic Abuse and Family Violence in the UK: The Impact of COVID-19’.

 

Her work is cited regularly in government policy (UK and Australia) and by key organisations and practitioners in the field. Dr Katz is Senior Lecturer in Childhood & Youth at Liverpool Hope University. She gives numerous invited talks and bespoke training workshops to practitioners in the UK and overseas, and has made numerous contributions (interviews, TV/radio appearances and consultancy work) for UK newspapers and media broadcast networks including Channel 4, ITV, and the BBC.
